Current Consumption Numbers

Lauren, our incredible designer and researcher, has run the latest numbers available for animal consumption. Because of increases in average animal weight, and changes / decreases in consumption patterns, in 2010, the average person in the US consumed:

22.25 chickens
0.70 turkey
0.30 pig
0.11 cow
0.02 lamb

(See this post for an estimate on how many animals a meat-eater going vegetarian saves. Harish tries to take out vegetarians / near vegetarians, includes factory farmed animals who suffer to death before slaughter, and tries to estimate aquatic animal deaths.)

Initial numbers would indicate the trend has continued down (more detail) since 2010.
