Oberg Week Begins: Unity?

We've asked John Oberg to pick his favorite old blog posts for the coming week. He came across this answer to his own question, from 2010:

John asks:

Do you find it frustrating that there are so many different beliefs within the animal welfare/vegan  movement? Should we strive towards  unity?

As you know, Vegan Outreach isn't concerned with abstractions, philosophy, or labels. We are all about concrete results -- we seek to reduce as much suffering as possible. Period.

We’re happy to work with anyone and  everyone who shares this goal, regardless of their philosophy, "label," etc. If people have different goals, that is fine – we wish them all the best with their efforts!

Since meat-eaters are the only ones in a position to save more animals, our limited time is best spent reaching out to meat eaters with proven effective techniques, rather than debating with fellow vegans. There is so much constructive outreach to be done!
